Vision of Door of Light

By Sis. Liliana Chan
In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ I testify.
Background
First, I’d like to share a very brief background. I was not born into church. My siblings and I were born and raised in Central and South America, in countries where the True Jesus Church did not have members or a prayer house. At age 12, by the great and inexplicable mercy of God, I received water baptism and the precious Holy Spirit at a Student Spiritual Convocation in El Monte Church. Soon after, my family returned to Latin America, where we remained for six years. During those six years, God Himself carried us through a great numbers of trials and tribulations, including civil wars, natural disasters, and other tragedies of life (but those are testimonies for another time). It is because of God’s immeasurable compassion that I can testify before you today.

Ministry Volunteer Program at San Jose
I was given the opportunity to participate at the Ministry Volunteer Program as a member of the Spanish Ministry project. I really thank and praise God for the many living testimonies I found among the youth there. I was extremely touched by the faithfulness and diligence of several participants, who by their loving heart and righteous conduct did not allow others to despise them because of their youth (1 Tim 4:12).

Vision
During one of the group prayers, I received a vision. First, there was complete and utter darkness. It was darkness so deep and desolate that it felt physically painful. It was the darkness that lives in those who are separated from the love of God.
Suddenly, a door of light opened into the darkness. It was a light full of comfort and love. When the door first opened wide, many departed from the darkness and stepped into the light. This reminded me of verses in 2 Corinthians 4:6 and Luke 1:76-79 (2 Co 4:6 For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. Luk 1:76 "And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Highest; For you will go before the face of the Lord to prepare His ways, 77 To give knowledge of salvation to His people By the remission of their sins, 78 Through the tender mercy of our God, With which the Dayspring from on high has visited us; 79 To give light to those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death, To guide our feet into the way of peace.")

However, as soon as many abandoned the shifting shadows to enter the heavenly light, the darkness furiously pressed against the door. The door closed until it was a narrow opening. It remained open because the Light would not allow it to be shut (Isa 22:22), and because the servants of the Lord had rushed to the door and stood there to hold back the pressing darkness.

The servants of God were few, but they stood together as one. The more they were pressed and pierced with suffering, the stronger they became. At first, I could not fully understand why the Light allowed them to undergo such terrible pain, which was provoked by the darkness. Then I looked closer, and saw that some of those dwelling in the darkness were able to break free from their chains and slip through the narrow opening into the light. It was through the suffering of the servants of God, along with the abidance of the Light, that many more were released from their imprisonment.

Then I looked around, and there was a great crowd of witnesses and angels observing this spectacle. This brought to mind verses found in Hebrews 12:1 and 1 Corinthians 4:9 (Heb 12:1 Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 1 Co 4:9 For I think that God has displayed us, the apostles, last, as men condemned to death; for we have been made a spectacle to the world, both to angels and to men.) The spectacle was meant for the glory of God.

This vision brought me to a few realizations, lessons which may be edifying to all of us. First, many of us who are here today may be enjoying a peaceful and comfortable phase of life because God has blessed us by keeping the enemy at bay. We have enjoyed and are enjoying the benefits of being in the light, and we thank God for this. However, we should be careful to be too complacent in our prosperity. There are countless souls on the other side of the door, longing for an opportunity to share in our blessings.

We can no longer sit at the sidelines. The end is near. Now, it is our turn to enter the battlefield, join the servants of God at the door, and push back against the powers of darkness. We need not be afraid of suffering or difficulty. Actually, we should welcome them willingly and endure patiently, because we are not only saving up treasure in heaven, but it may be that we are also saving a soul or two.

Let our goal be to work together to become a spectacle that brings glory to God. If we have a testimony, let’s share it. If we can’t think of our own testimony, surely we’ve heard of someone else’s testimony. Share that. If we know the Bible, let’s share it. If we haven’t read the Bible through, surely we’ve read one verse that we can still remember. Share that. If we have an hour to offer a prayer of intercession, share it. If we only have ten minutes to pray for someone else, let us share that. I’m sure there are too many things that we lack, but all we need to do is share what we do have, simply share what we have seen and heard (John 8:38a "I speak what I have seen with My Father." Act 22:15 'For you will be His witness to all men of what you have seen and heard.)
If we can make a determination to do these things when we return home, we will have joined the workers at the door of salvation and will share in their rewards in heaven.
May all glory, honor, and praise be unto God.
